Role: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Cheltenham – Flexible/Hybrid

Salary: £70,000 – £100,000

We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join the Infrastructure Team at one of our defence clients with offices in Cheltenham. In this role, you will support customers in migrating and modernising mission-critical systems across AWS and hybrid cloud environments.

Working closely with experienced engineers and architects, you will help design and deliver secure, scalable solutions across cloud and on-premise platforms. Your work will improve system reliability, reduce operational costs, and increase organisational agility across national security programmes, using modern Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build and implement AWS and hybrid cloud solutions for gov/defence industry clients.
• Define scalable and secure infrastructure architectures.
• Administer and optimise Linux and Windows-based systems in enterprise environments.
• Design and troubleshoot IP networking solutions.
• Automate deployment, configuration and maintenance processes using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tooling.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through DevSecOps practices and innovation.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in IT systems design, deployment and administration, including leadership responsibilities.
• AWS certification at Associate level with hands-on experience delivering cloud-based solutions.
• Strong expertise in Linux and Windows system administration.
• Solid understanding of IPv4 networking including subnetting, routing (OSPF), VLANs and VPNs.
• Experience automating tasks using tools such as Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Puppet or Python.
• Due to the nature of work, you must be a sole British Citizen and be able to gain DV clearance.
