About Eolas

Accessing medical knowledge rapidly and easily at the point of care is still very difficult for healthcare professionals. Eolas Medical is transforming how critical medical knowledge is accessed at the point of care.

We have a vision that the future of healthcare ensures that the world's medical knowledge is queried, seamlessly in real time, for every clinical decision ever made for a patient. We're building and deploying the "brain of an AI doctor".

Designed and developed by doctors, the platform aggregates and indexes tens of thousands of items of medical content, enabling rapid and accurate decision-making. It's currently being used by hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals globally, over 85% of acute NHS hospitals, 40% of all doctors in Ireland and also used in world leading institutions in the US including Stanford Healthcare, Mass General and Boston Children's Hospital.

We've just closed a $12million Series A fundraise and we're now hiring our Head of Web, a senior engineering role to work alongside a team of doctors helping build the next generation of AI powered clinical knowledge tools.

If you are an experienced react engineer this is one of those rare roles where your decisions will literally influence how doctors treat patients every day.

The role

As Head of Web, you'll be the technical owner of our web platform - setting the direction for front-end architecture, guiding best practices, and leading by example with high-quality code. This is a senior role offering significant autonomy and influence over the product's technical future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the web application's architecture, development, and deployment
  • Lead development efforts using React and TypeScript, ensuring clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
  • Improve the reliability, performance, and maintainability of our existing platform, identifying any weaknesses / tech debt and formulate plans on how to address these.
  • Work closely with other engineers across mobile and backend, ensuring code sharing between platforms where appropriate
  • Follow engineering best practices: code reviews, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and security.
  • Help shape the technical roadmap and strategic direction of the platform.
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure the web platform aligns with business goals and user needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript.
  • Experience building, deploying, and maintaining production web applications.
  • A track record of ownership and autonomy in delivering complex technical projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles and architecture.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and services.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL APIs and server integrations.
  • Experience using Tailwind CSS for styling.
  • Previous experience in a health tech or regulated industry.
  • Understanding of accessibility and usability in healthcare software.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance best practices (e.g. HIPAA/GDPR, NHS DTAC, SOC 2).

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to shape a critical part of our technology stack from the ground up.
  • A high level of autonomy and trust in decision-making.
  • Flexible working arrangements and a collaborative team culture.
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact in healthcare technology.
Why join Eolas Medical

This is not a normal role.

You will help define how AI is safely used in front line healthcare. You will work with a small team of clinician engineers who care deeply about both product quality and patient outcomes. You will join at the moment we move from a lean, scrappy team of seven to a scaled organisation with real resources behind it.

You will not be one engineer among many. You will be the person who helps shape how Eolas Medical builds backend infrastructure for years to come.
