Children’s Therapies Support Worker

Job summary

Are you looking to work within a small and supportive team and have strong communication skills? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in an therapies support worker role across the Children's Therapies Team.

Children's Therapies comprises Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech & Language Therapy. The post holder will be part of the Sutton Health & Care Children's Therapies Team and the post will sit across Admin and Speech & Language Therapy

Flexible working is available although we do need the successful candidate to work Fridays.

Main duties of the job

You will be based in the admin office at Green Wrythe Lane Clinic, supporting delivery of therapy services. As the first point of contact for parents / carers and professionals you will be expected to answer queries, manage referrals, book appointments and signpost people to other services.

The post holder may also help with clinical work from time to time as required by the service.

Successful candidates will have demonstrable skills working with different client groups. You should be flexible, organised and creative with good IT skills, and enjoy working with children, their families and other team members. You should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

Essential
  • oEvidence of formal education with written, verbal and numeric skills to GCSE or similar level

Experience

Essential
  • oExperience of working in health or social care environment
  • oTeam working
  • Previous experience of administrative role
Desirable
  • oRelevant experience of working within children services
  • oRelevant experience working with members of the public

Knowledge

Essential
  • o Knowledge of a range of IT systems
Desirable
  • Knowledge of NHS systems such as EMIS
  • Understanding of the basic principles of speech and language therapy and how the support worker supports this role.

Skills

  • oAbility to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role
