Job summary

The Clinical Programme Team: The key system within the Trust for its electronic patient record is provided by Oracle Cerner Millennium. The department also supports other clinical applications and systems within its remit.

The role of the team is to build and support applications and clinical systems for the Trust, through the provision of a customer focused collaborative, responsive and clinically safe applications.

You will be responsible for the build and support of Clinical Applications modules as defined and agreed within the remit of the post. Working together with Cerner, Cerner AMS, and other suppliers, provide application and operational support to ensure day to day delivery of the Trust electronic patient record.

You will provide a customer-focussed service of the highest quality and effectiveness which meets the needs of clinical/corporate services and is delivered in accordance with national guidance, trust Strategy, statutory legislation, and current best practice. This will entail working with clinical and operational staff at all levels; with suppliers, managing their turn-around for requests within your area of expertise; applying application design principles, both generic and specific to the application system, ensuring that the application meets the clinical and operational needs of the requestors and the Trust, with the patient in mind at all times.

Main duties of the job

  • You will assist the lead for the Trust in one or more specialist modules of the Trust EPR system application or other systems (such as Clinical Documentation, PAS, Order Comms, Critical Care, Digital Dictation/Correspondence etc), providing specialist subject matter expertise.

    You will provide support to managers, providing them with evidence and advice to support recommendation.

    You will work with the Clinical Applications Technical Team to monitor system performance of the applications, utilisation and to improve performance of the system and the support service and to ensure the application is tested to be clinically safe and complies with information governance principles.

    You will advise, design, and support the development and use of safe processes for the use of applications within clinical services.

    You will contribute to and support the development of an application design methodology and capability within the team. including requirements management, design, build, deploy, optimise and support, undertaking monitored support processes, with incident and problem management.
