DevOps Engineer AWS / Python / Cloud Platform

We are supporting a Tier 1 financial institution in hiring a DevOps Engineer to join a specialist engineering team responsible for a cloud resilience platform used to protect critical applications running in public cloud environments.

  • Sheffield (Hybrid 3 days onsite)
  • Competitive day rate (Inside IR35)
  • Initial 6 month contract

This platform enables applications to recover from severe but plausible cyber events such as ransomware attacks and plays an important role in the organisations wider cloud security and resilience strategy.

The successful contractor will join an established DevOps and software engineering team responsible for building, scaling and operating the platform across AWS and GCP environments.

This role will suit a DevOps engineer with strong coding capability, ideally someone who originally came from a software engineering background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the build and maintenance of platform environments across AWS and GCP
  • Managing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Supporting software releases through controlled enterprise production environments
  • Helping onboard internal applications onto the platform
  • Working closely with software engineers to support application lifecycle and deployment automation
  • Maintaining infrastructure and platform environments as adoption grows
  • Ensuring deployments comply with governance and release control frameworks
  • Supporting operational stability as the platform scales across regions

Key Requirements

  • Must have significant Tier 1 banking experience
  • Strong DevOps engineering background
  • Strong experience working with AWS cloud environments
  • Exposure to GCP is beneficial
  • Strong coding capability, ideally with Python
  • Experience working in environments where software engineering and DevOps overlap
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Comfortable working within regulated or enterprise environments
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with engineering teams
Highly Desirable
  • Experience supporting internally built engineering platforms
  • Exposure to Go-based systems or environments
Location

This role is Sheffield based, with 3 days per week required onsite, this is a firm requirement therefore candidates should ideally live within a commutable distance of Sheffield.
