We are working with a Tier 1 banking client seeking an experienced Product Engineering Lead to join a high-impact technology function responsible for delivering and supporting critical enterprise platforms.

This is a key leadership role within a global engineering organisation, focused on driving automation, improving platform resilience, and building high-performing engineering teams.

The Role

You will lead a product engineering pod, providing SME engineering support for vendor-backed platforms that underpin critical IT services.

You will take full ownership of delivery from demand intake and prioritisation through to execution and reporting, while also playing a key role in uplifting engineering capability, standards, and ways of working across the team.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, delivery, and platform improvement, with a strong focus on performance, automation, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a cross-functional engineering pod delivering platform and automation outcomes
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight across vendor product engineering activities
  • Drive delivery across major upgrades, complex change initiatives, and 3rd line engineering support
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architecture, and wider stakeholders
  • Improve platform performance, resilience, and operational efficiency
  • Define and track engineering performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
  • Build team capability through coaching, mentoring, and embedding best practices
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards including documentation, peer review, and quality controls
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams within enterprise environments
  • Demonstrated ability to transform teams into high-performing engineering xkybehq units
  • Strong technical background with scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash or similar)
  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across large organisations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong ownership mindset and attention to quality
Desirable
  • Experience supporting vendor-backed platforms or enterprise applications
  • Background within financial services or regulated environments
  • Understanding of risk, compliance, and governance frameworks
