BPSS Clearance Software Engineer (PHP - AWS)

A leading healthcare technology provider is upgrading one of its market-leading pharmacy referral and consultation management platforms. The system, originally built as a PHP monolithic web application, has grown in popularity but has become increasingly difficult to scale, secure, and maintain.

This project focuses on upgrading the existing PHP application to the latest version of PHP, creating a more stable foundation for future cloud migration and modernisation. You will be working closely with the providers internal engineering team to deliver this upgrade.

Key Responsibilities

• Upgrade and refactor the existing PHP monolith to the latest PHP version.

• Apply modern PHP tools and practices to improve code quality and maintainability.

• Collaborate with the internal team on system improvements and modernisation.

• Contribute to greater stability, scalability, and security of the platform.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong PHP development background with proven commercial experience.

• Familiarity with modern PHP tooling, such as:

  • PHPStan

  • PHPUnit

  • PHP_CodeSniffer

  • PHP Mess Detector

  • Rector

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, distributed team.

Desirable Skills

• AWS experience, particularly in migration or modernisation projects.
