My client is a global IT consultancy looking for a Data Architect with Active SC Clearance, however clearable will be accepted
Rate up to £750pd inside IR35
6 months +
2/3 days per week onsite in London or Leeds (Which ever is closer)
Overview
We are seeking experienced Data Architects to support several strategic enterprise data transformation programmes within a large-scale, complex environment. These initiatives are focused on modernising enterprise data capabilities, migrating Legacy platforms, improving governance, and enabling scalable cloud-based analytical and operational data services.
Successful candidates will play a key role in shaping enterprise data architecture, defining migration strategies, and driving technical transformation across modern cloud data ecosystems.
A background within Banking or Financial Services is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Defining enterprise-scale data architecture solutions, including conceptual and logical data models, data flow diagrams, and interface specifications
- Supporting and defining complex data migration strategies, including source-to-target mappings across Legacy and modern platforms
- Implementing and promoting effective data governance and data management practices
- Designing and supporting operational and analytical data services, data distribution patterns, and enterprise data management solutions
- Driving architectural evolution, simplification, and innovation across enterprise data platforms
- Contributing to enterprise-wide data architecture repositories, standards, principles, and governance frameworks
- Collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to communicate architectural direction and recommendations
- Supporting multiple concurrent initiatives within large-scale transformation programmes
Required Experience & Skills
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in enterprise data architecture within large and complex environments
- Strong experience producing:
- Conceptual and logical data models
- Data flow diagrams
- Interface specifications
- Experience defining and supporting enterprise data migration strategies
- Strong understanding of data governance and data management methodologies
- Working knowledge of modern cloud-based data platforms and governance tooling, including:
- Microsoft Azure
- Databricks
- Unity Catalog
- Microsoft Purview
- Subject matter expertise across:
- Operational data services
- Analytical data services
- Data distribution and integration patterns
- Enterprise data management solutions
- Broad technical understanding of enterprise-scale data technologies, including:
- Cloud platforms
- Data life cycle management
- Master data management
- Legacy data warehouse migrations
- Proven track record of delivering technical change through architectural transformation, simplification, and innovation
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to senior audiences
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and solve complex problems proactively
Desirable Experience
- Experience maintaining enterprise data architecture repositories
- Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks, including:
- XML
- XBRL
- SDMX
- FIBO
- ISO 20022
- TOGAF/Zachman
- Experience defining enterprise data principles, canonical data models, ontologies, and taxonomies
- Broader enterprise architecture experience, including:
- Technical reference models
- Systems integration
- Building block design
- Application and role design
- Experience within FTSE 100 or similarly large enterprise environments
- Understanding of banking and financial messaging standards, including:
- SWIFT
- FIX
- ISO 20022
- Experience designing Middleware integration architectures and API-led enterprise integration patterns

Enterprise Data Platform (EDP)
A strategic initiative focused on modernising enterprise data architecture through the delivery of a scalable, governed, cloud-aligned platform for enterprise-wide data ingestion, transformation, and consumption.
Future Data Systems (FDS)
A transformation programme modernising statistical analysis capabilities through enhanced data processing, improved modelling environments, and the redesign of Legacy data systems.
DAP Migration
A priority migration programme focused on transitioning critical analytical and operational workloads from Legacy Data & Analytics Platform environments to modern cloud-based platforms.
Supervisory Analytics & Metrics (SAM)
A programme enhancing supervisory analytics capabilities through improved data availability, structure, usability, and repeatable analytical processes.
