IBM AIX Server Administrator

Location: Warwick (1-2 days per week onsite)
Contract: 6 months initial (highly likely extension - long-term programme)
IR35: Inside IR35
Start: Urgent - ideally within 1 week

A leading consulting client is seeking an experienced IBM AIX Server Administrator to join a long-term enterprise programme. This is an urgent requirement with interviews taking place immediately.

Required Experience

• 10+ years' IBM AIX OS administration

• PowerVM, HMC, LPM

• NPIV and SAN storage integration

• PowerHA SystemMirror clustering

• PowerVC and virtualization technologies

• Hardware/Firmware upgrade, refresh and migration experience

• Strong Scripting skills (UNIX Shell, Perl or Python)

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain AIX Servers and LPARs

• Manage VIO Servers, NIM deployments and PowerVM virtualization

• Apply OS patches, firmware updates and security hardening

• Monitor system health, performance tuning and capacity planning

• Datacentre operations including hardware installation and troubleshooting

• Root cause analysis of recurring technical issues

• Implement enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions

• Participate in DR drills and maintain restore procedures

• Ensure compliance with ITIL processes and security standards
