Chief GPU architect

GPU Chief Architect / XPU Lab Director (Mobile SoC)

A global leader in ICT infrastructure and smart devices is seeking a visionary GPU Chief Architect to lead the definition of next-generation mobile graphics and AI compute.

This isn't just a maintenance role; you will be the architectural lead for a converged xPU sub-system, driving the evolution of where GPU meets NPU. You will steer the roadmap for a flagship mobile SoC, ensuring world-class performance, power efficiency (Perf/W), and silicon area optimization for the next decade of mobile compute.

Key Responsibilities

  • xPU Converged Design: Redefine the boundary between GPU and NPU. You will lead the "ground-up" design of a converged architecture (Hardware & Software) optimal for future AI-heavy mobile workloads.
  • Architectural Leadership: Own the evolution of shader cores, execution pipelines, and cache hierarchies from initial concept through to tape-out.
  • Unified Resource Strategy: Define unified execution resources (vector, scalar, tensor units) and shared scheduling mechanisms for graphics and AI.
  • Memory & Interconnect: Strategy lead for memory hierarchy and bandwidth arbitration policies, reducing data movement overhead across heterogeneous compute domains.
  • Systems Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with CPU, AI Software, and Runtime teams to align hardware with modern graphics APIs and AI frameworks.

Requirements

  • Experience: 15+ years in GPU, AI Accelerator, or Heterogeneous Compute architecture.
  • Technical Depth: Mastery of GPU microarchitecture (SIMD/SIMT, scheduling, memory systems) and tensor/matrix computation.
  • Track Record: Proven success in delivering high-volume, complex SoC silicon to market.
  • Leadership: Experience leading Lab-level or Director-level architectural teams within a global R&D environment.
  • Expertise: Deep proficiency in performance modelling, power analysis, and workload characterisation.
