Client: A leading global technology company is hiring to expand their imaging research team in Cambridge.
About the Role
Our client is hiring an experienced R&D Engineer / Researcher in Camera Algorithms to join their imaging research organisation in Cambridge.
The team is focused on next-generation camera algorithm development, image quality optimisation, and AI-driven approaches to computational imaging , targeting future consumer products.
You will work in a research-driven environment with strong ownership and technical freedom , developing algorithms from concept through implementation, validation, and optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design and implement advanced camera and imaging algorithms
- Develop solutions targeting improvements in image quality, low-light, HDR, tone mapping, denoising, fusion, texture, compression, and rendering
- Build and test end-to-end imaging pipelines , from capture to display
- Implement prototype systems in Python, C or C++
- Conduct objective and subjective IQ evaluation , metric design, and benchmarking
- Optimise algorithms for performance, memory and power
- Prepare technical reports, experiment documentation, and evaluation results
- Collaborate with research, software, hardware and product teams to define technical direction
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Imaging or related field
- Industrial experience in camera algorithms, computational photography, computer vision or image processing
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C/C++
- Experience with image quality metrics, evaluation methods and tuning
- Understanding of end-to-end imaging systems and camera pipelines
- Ability to build and validate algorithms in a practical environment
- Strong analytical skills, curiosity and problem-solving mindset
Desired:
- Background in AI-based image processing or deep learning
- Experience with HDR, low-light, fusion, super-resolution or compression
- Knowledge of GPU, parallel computing or embedded optimisation
- Publications in CVPR / ICCV / ECCV / SIGGRAPH / IS&T or relevant fields
- Passion for photography, computer vision or imaging research
