Evex Digital Health is an early-stage start-up dedicated to helping young people quit vaping.

We are building a smart quitting companion designed specifically for people who vape. Vaping is now deeply embedded in everyday life for a new generation, but the tools to help people stop have not caught up.

We are developing a solution that is digital, behavioural, and evidence-based , tailored to the psychology and patterns of modern nicotine use. Our approach intelligently guides people to cut down, build new habits, and ultimately quit for good.

We are now hiring a Chief Clinical Officer to lead the clinical vision, research strategy, and programme design as we move from validated need to a scalable solution.

This role may begin fractional, part-time, or fixed-term , with the opportunity to transition to full-time as the company grows.

Responsibilities

Short-term:

  • Design an evidence-based vaping cessation programme
  • Define psychological and clinical frameworks underpinning the product
  • Ensure alignment with current best practice and emerging research
  • Translate scientific literature into practical, engaging content.

Long-term:

  • Set outcome measures and clinical success criteria
  • Design research studies to evaluate efficacy
  • Support ethics approvals and research governance processes
  • Lead or co-author academic publications and conference outputs
  • Act as clinical spokesperson for partners, regulators, and investors
  • Help shape long-term regulatory and evidence pathways.
About You
  • Scientific degree or PhD in a relevant discipline
  • Neuroscience, public health, addiction medicine, psychology, behavioural science, respiratory medicine, or similar
  • Published in peer-reviewed journals
  • Professional experience in at least one of:
  • Smoking or vaping cessation
  • Nicotine dependence research
  • Addiction science
  • Digital health intervention design
  • Experience working with behavioural change methodologies
  • Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment.

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. We are currently unable to offer Visa sponsorship.

Nice to Have
  • Prior involvement in digital therapeutics or mHealth studies
  • Experience with NHS, NICE, or equivalent regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with young adult or high-frequency nicotine users
  • History of securing or contributing to grant-funded research.
Structure and Compensation

We are open to:

  • Fractional C-suite engagement
  • Part-time employment
  • Fixed-term project contract

Compensation : approximately £40k–£60k FTE-equivalent (typically aligned with a senior part-time engagement), depending on experience and structure, with flexible arrangements and potential equity participation.
