Senior BI Developer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior BI Developer to join Evlo’s Data and MI function. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain data solutions that support robust management information (MI) and business intelligence (BI) across the organisation. You will play a key part in shaping our data capabilities—ensuring solutions are scalable, accurate, compliant, and aligned to business needs.

This position requires strong expertise in data warehousing, ETL development, database management, and advanced reporting. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions, ensuring data integrity and compliance with UK data protection regulations including GDPR.

The Role

Data Warehouse Architecture & Development:

  • Design and implement scalable data warehouse architectures and schemas.

  • Ensure data security and access controls meet UK data security standards.

2. Advanced ETL Development & Optimisation:

  • Lead the development of complex ETL processes and optimise ETL performance.

  • Resolve complex ETL errors and ensure data quality in line with governance policies.

3. Database Management & Performance Tuning:

  • Develop and manage relational and non-relational databases.

  • Implement advanced database performance tuning and optimisation strategies.

4. Advanced Reporting:

  • Develop interactive dashboards and reports using advanced BI techniques (e.g. Power BI, SSRS).

  • Translate business requirements into actionable insights while ensuring data accuracy.

5. Technical Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Mentor junior developers and enforce best practices for data development.

  • Drive innovation and adoption of new data technologies.

6. Data Governance & Compliance:

  • Lead data governance initiatives and ensure compliance with UK data protection laws (GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018).

  • Conduct data quality assessments and audits.

7. Stakeholder Management & Communication:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data and reporting needs.

  • Lead requirements gathering and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

8. Project Management:

  • Take ownership of projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.

  • Provide accurate time estimates and manage project progress.

9. Documentation:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architectures, ETL processes, and reporting solutions.

  • Create and maintain data dictionaries and data lineage documentation.

About you 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline (Master’s desirable).

Experience

5+ years’ experience in data warehousing, ETL development, and database management.

Proven experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, SSRS) and ETL technologies (e.g., SQL, SAS).

Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure is advantageous.

Technical Skills

Expert proficiency in SQL, database programming, and BI tools.

Strong knowledge of data warehousing methodologies, ETL tools (e.g., WhereScape, SSIS), and modelling techniques (e.g., dimensional modelling, star schemas).

Proficiency in Python or R.

Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Strong understanding of UK data protection laws.

Soft Skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking abilities.

Effective time management and the ability to manage multiple complex projects.
