The role
We are seeking a highly commercial and analytically driven Senior Commercial Data Analyst to help accelerate the organisation’s data and insight capability.
This is not a traditional reporting role - the successful individual will be expected to actively challenge assumptions, agitate questions within the business, and help shape a culture where decisions are consistently informed by trusted data and analytical insight.
The role requires an individual who can comfortably frame complex business problems into structured analytical approaches combining strong commercial judgement, advanced analytical techniques, and stakeholder influence to ensure data-driven insights translate into tangible business outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with senior stakeholders across finance, commercial, and operations to solve high-value business problems.
- Deliver deep-dive analysis across performance, customer behaviour, profitability and risk
- Translate complex data into clear, compelling recommendations that influence decisions
- Develop scenario models, forecasts, and segmentation analyses
- Support the design of Power BI dashboards and enterprise semantic models
- Apply advanced analytics (SQL, Python/R) to uncover insights and opportunities
- Drive improvements in data literacy, governance, and reporting standards
- Move the business from reactive reporting to proactive, insight-led decision making
Essential skills
- Extensive experience in commercial analytics, advanced analytics, business intelligence, FP&A analytics, data science, or insight roles.
- Expert SQL capability with experience interrogating large and complex datasets
- Strong proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent analytical programming languages for advanced analytics, automation, and data manipulation
- Experience framing ambiguous business questions and translating them into structured analytical approaches
- Strong statistical and analytical thinking with experience applying quantitative techniques to support commercial and operational decision-making
- Proven ability to identify patterns, drivers, anomalies, and behavioural trends within complex datasets
Highly Desirable
- Experience in financial services, SaaS, or consumer finance
- Knowledge of predictive modelling, forecasting, or optimisation
- Exposure to modern data platforms (e.g. cloud, Microsoft Fabric)
- Experience embedding AI into analytics workflows
