Head of EngineeringSlough | Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)£100,000 + performance incentivesExalto Consulting is partnering with a growing SaaS business that develops software used by global manufacturing and engineering organisations to manage critical operational processes.With a proven product, established customers and ambitious growth plans, the business is looking for a hands-on engineering leader to help shape its next phase.This role combines software engineering, technical leadership and strategic influence. You'll contribute code regularly, guide technical direction, mentor a small team of experienced developers and work closely with the Founder to ensure technology continues to support business growth.What you'll be doing Leading the technical direction and architecture of a cloud-based SaaS platformRemaining hands-on with development across back end, front end and cloud infrastructureWriting and reviewing code while maintaining high engineering standardsMentoring and supporting a small team of senior developersOwning Azure-based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and platform reliabilityDelivering integrations with customer and third-party systemsHelping shape the company's approach to AI-enabled products and toolsWorking closely with business stakeholders to turn ideas into practical solutionsTechnology environment includes:.NET and C#React, JavaScript and TypeScriptAzure, Azure DevOps and AKSGitOps deployment practicesPowerShell automationPython within emerging AI solutionsWhat we're looking for Strong hands-on software engineering experience, ideally within SaaS or product-led environmentsExpertise across .NET, cloud technologies and modern engineering practicesExperience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD and Kubernetes-based deploymentsThe ability to balance delivery, scalability and long-term maintainabilityExperience leading or mentoring developersStrong communication skills and sound technical judgementAn interest in AI and its practical application within products and engineering teamsWhy join This is an opportunity to take ownership of technology within a growing business where engineering plays a central role.
