A rare and rather unique opportunity has presented to join a fast growing UK SaaS based E-Commerce International Growth business. Expandly’s Head of Compliance and Quality is a key leader within the organisation and a member of the senior leadership team reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, with a small team of compliance and data specialists providing administrative support.

The Head of Compliance and Quality is responsible for overseeing the company’s compliance programs for international environment tax and products like Responsible Person, EPR and GPSR regulations, ensuring that all products and services meet the highest quality standards. The role oversees the approval of clients’ products for the appropriate geographic market by comparing the label to any regional legislative requirements, registration of the client’s credentials to any required governing body and collection/presentation of any data required. The business ultimately acts as a Responsible Person for the seller’s product compliance affairs.

As the key driver of Quality within the business, this role involves developing, continuously improving and implementing compliance policies, managing quality assurance processes, and leading a team dedicated to maintaining company operational excellence across all departments including delivery of cross sector audits and upholding the requirements of any ISO accredited standards

The right candidate will have had experience in a similar style of compliance though need not necessarily a precise expert in the field. The likely character will be:

A qualified and experienced quality and compliance mindset individual,

Experienced in leading a team to provide product compliance analysis and reports

Familiar with ways and sources of regulatory legislation and how this affects product ingredients and formulation

Able to analyse and report on the compliance of product labels

Detail and technically oriented

Able to define and drive systems consistently and accurately

Understand the science pertaining to product ingredients and safety instructions to mange business and client risk

Able to converse credibly with clients and regulatory bodies to solve complex regulatory and compliance challenges

Key responsibilities include:

Lead, coach and develop a compliance team

Report, monitor and continuously improve systems and processes within the department

Present performance to the COO, CEO and board

Ensure diligent and accurate filing of engaged clients environmental tax affairs

Provide accurate and timely checks of client product labels to ensure compliance

Develop and enforce comprehensive compliance policies and procedure

Keep abreast of regulatory changes and updates pertinent to supported products

Lead and develop internal and external SOPs and processes

Ensure the company adheres to legal standards and in-house policies relating to compliance and quality

Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Evaluate and manage Health and Safety policy and improvements

Evaluate business activities to assess compliance risk.

Carry out risk assessments and safety inspections as part of a continuous improvement culture for Health and Safety management

Coordinate with external auditors and HR departments when needed.

Oversee the implementation of quality assurance measures to ISO standards

Conduct regular audits to ensure quality standards are met.

Lead and mentor the compliance and quality assurance teams.

Prepare and present reports to senior management and board members.

Stay abreast of industry developments and adjust policies accordingly.

Develop and progress automations and efficiencies of all Compliance processes
