Junior Technical Architect
Role: Junior Technical Architect
Location: London/Remote
Duration: 12 Months
Day rate: £490 Inside IR35
Role Purpose:
- As part of an architecture team, design and deliver architectural solutions for the Intelligent Navigation core platform, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, performant, and aligned with NHS standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive specific areas of the architecture solution, including solution design, data architecture, security patterns, and integration patterns
- Collaborate with senior architects and cross-functional team members on complex architectural challenges
- Create and maintain architectural diagrams, documentation, and design specifications
- Ensure solutions adhere to architectural principles, patterns, and NHS interoperability standards
- Work closely with product, UCD, and QA teams to ensure designs meet user needs and are technically feasible
- Present architectural designs at technical reviews and incorporate feedback
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Support senior architects in stakeholder meetings and decision-making forums
- Document architectural decisions using Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
- Support identification, assessment, and mitigation of technical risks and issues
- Participate in architectural review boards and technical governance forums
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Self-motivated with ability to drive conversations across teams, within the organization, and with third parties
- Solution Design: Experience translating requirements into technical solutions
- Integration Expertise: Hands-on experience with REST APIs, microservices, and integration patterns
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary agile teams
Desirable:
- Experience defining solution architectures, including component design and data modelling
- Familiarity with NHS interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, NHS API standards)
- Understanding of security principles including authentication, authorization, and data protection
- Experience with non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, resilience)
Qualifications:
- 1+ years in technical architecture roles, OR 3+ years as a senior developer with demonstrable interest in architecture
