Senior Microsoft Dynamics Business Central – Retail Discovery & Solution Architect (Contract)

Engagement: Contract | Outside IR35

Start: January 2026 (Discovery immediately)

Duration: 2–3 week discovery phase (with follow-on potential)

Location: UK-based, client-facing as required

The Requirement

We are urgently seeking a senior, consultant-grade Microsoft Dynamics specialist to lead a short, fixed-price discovery engagement for a complex retail organisation preparing for a major ERP transformation.

This is a true consulting role – not delivery support. The successful contractor must be able to lead discovery, define target-state architecture, and shape a credible transformation proposal for board-level decision making.

What You'll Be Doing

You will lead a 2–3 week discovery covering:

• Rapid assessment of the current ERP, POS, WMS, and ecommerce landscape
• High-level business and technical requirements
• Definition of a target-state SaaS Business Central architecture
• Options for delivery and support models (in-house vs supplier vs hybrid)
• A high-level roadmap and indicative cost estimates
• Clear, board-ready outputs and recommendations

You will work closely with Experis but own the solutioning and architecture.

Current Landscape (High-Level)

• Multiple legacy Dynamics NAV systems (NAV09, NAV15)
• Partially upgraded Business Central 14, heavily customised
• POS migrated from LS Retail to Teamwork Commerce
• Legacy NAV-based Warehouse Management
• Incomplete Business Central 24 environment
• Integrations with Magento, Shopify, and manual processes
• Large database (1.5TB+), minimal archiving, limited documentation
• Multi-country retail operation (c.20 stores)

What the Client Wants

• Migrate to SaaS Business Central with minimal customisation
• Simplify and consolidate the ERP / POS / WMS landscape
• Rationalise and migrate only essential data
• Use standard ISVs and connectors wherever possible
• Reduce vendor lock-in and upskill internal teams
• Define a clear roadmap by Jan–Feb 2026
• Target implementation start April 2026

Required Profile

Must Have

• 15+ years with Dynamics NAV / Business Central
• Strong retail systems integration experience
• Proven pre-sales / discovery / solution architecture background
• Experience integrating:
• POS (Teamwork Commerce highly desirable)
• ERP (Business Central – Finance & Inventory)
• Warehouse Management Systems
• Deep understanding of BC SaaS migration
• Confident engaging C-suite / board-level stakeholders
• Operates as a genuine consultant (LTD / LCC)

Nice to Have

• LS Retail experience
• Multi-country retail exposure
• Azure / integration architecture knowledge
