Data Analyst ( BIG ID)

A leading global Data and AI organisation is seeking a Data Analyst to support high‐priority data taxonomy development. This role focuses on defining and evolving critical data taxonomies in alignment with an Enterprise Metadata Management framework, enabling sustainable and consistent data classification across data management and information security initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in improving visibility, control, and governance of sensitive data across both structured and unstructured environments.

Key Responsibilities

Classifier Development and Tuning

  • Define requirements and develop custom data classifiers (using Regex) to identify high‐priority data across structured and unstructured sources.
  • Focus on areas with limited coverage from out‐of‐the‐box classifiers, such as claims and policy data, security-related information, and non‐public financial data.
  • Support the calibration and validation of newly developed classifiers, including reviewing test outcomes with business stakeholders.
  • Analyse initial scanning results and fine‐tune both custom and standard classifiers to improve scan accuracy and completeness.

Post‐Scan Activities

  • Support post‐scan processes for structured data, including results refinement, high‐level analysis, and coordination of validation with application teams and business stakeholders.
  • Translate scan findings into actionable outcomes, such as data minimisation activities and updates to governance records.
  • Support review and validation of unstructured data scan results across in‐scope repositories through a combination of hands‐on analysis and structured feedback collection from data owners and business stakeholders.

Reporting

  • Define reporting requirements and build dashboards and reports using data discovery platforms and available analytical tools, enabling effective results review, progress tracking, and stakeholder reporting.

Operating Model

  • Support the design and implementation of a target operating model in collaboration with Information Security, Data Office, Technology Risk & Controls, and other internal stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Familiarity with financial services processes, data types, and terminology.
  • Experience within Data Protection, Data Management, or Information Security environments.
  • Hands‐on experience with data discovery and classification initiatives, ideally using tools such as BigID or equivalent platforms.
  • Practical experience building Regex expressions (highly desirable).
  • Strong organisational, project management, and multitasking capabilities.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at multiple seniority levels.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary and bonus package.
  • Comprehensive benefits including private healthcare, life assurance, income protection, and pension contributions.
  • Financial wellbeing initiatives and lifestyle benefits.
  • Structured learning and development programmes, including online learning, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
  • Employee share purchase options.
  • A flexible hybrid working model, supporting work‐life balance while maintaining a collaborative culture.
  • Commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.
