Data Modeler

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise-scale data lake and data warehouse solutions, ensuring consistency across all layers
  • Establish and enforce design principles, standards, and naming conventions to promote reusable and well-governed data assets
  • Deliver high-quality data models for priority domains and support a structured expansion across the enterprise
  • Align modelling standards with governance frameworks, including London Market standards (ACORD, CDR, MRC) and regulatory requirements
  • Define processes, ownership, and tooling to manage and evolve data assets over time
  • Support data integration processes (batch and real-time) using tools such as Informatica, SSIS, MuleSoft, DataStage, and similar platforms
  • Produce clear functional and technical documentation (data models, dictionaries, integration specifications, testing plans)
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to analyse requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Stay current with evolving technologies and recommend improvements to data architecture approaches
  • Lead and contribute to enterprise data architecture strategy, including data movement, tooling, and design standards
  • Engage with project managers, business users, and technical teams to ensure best practices in data modelling
  • Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and scripts
  • Maintain version control and documentation standards to ensure consistency across delivery teams

Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong experience within the insurance data domain; London Market experience highly desirable
  • Proven experience with enterprise data modelling tools (e.g. ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner)
  • Expertise across database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, Snowflake, and cloud-native databases)
  • Knowledge of data architecture methodologies (Dimensional, ODS, Data Vault, Data Mesh)
  • 5–7 years’ experience in technical leadership or management roles
  • Consulting experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience); advanced degree desirable
  • Strong skills in data analysis, profiling, and data quality assessment
  • Experience with data warehousing and OLTP systems
  • Strong knowledge of data integration patterns and best practices
  • Strong SQL skills; scripting experience (PL/SQL, Python) advantageous
  • Familiarity with SDLC processes and agile delivery methodologies
  • Understanding of modern data platforms (cloud, real-time, streaming, big data)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Knowledge of London Market standards and regulatory frameworks desirable
