ROLE TITLE: Defect Manager
LOCATION: Remote UK
CLEARANCE: Must have 5 years continuous UK residency. The ideal candidate will have active SC Clearance or be eligible to undergo SC Clearance.

Job Purpose/The Role:
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining DataStage pipelines, using your expertise in data integration and manipulation to transform data from the source into the IBM MAS target model. This role supports a confidential MOD project and requires strong technical delivery, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Role Summary
We are seeking a detail-focused and highly organised Defect Manager / Quality Test Engineer to take ownership of the full defect lifecycle for bugs identified during CDS release activity and continuous non-functional testing. You will work closely with programme stakeholders, delivery teams, and senior leaders to drive defects to resolution, maintain visibility of progress, and support the delivery of a high-performing CDS platform.lancashiregroup+1
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end defect lifecycle from logging through to closure.
- Triage, track, progress, and escalate defects across multiple delivery teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate defect records, status updates, and supporting evidence.
- Produce clear defect reports, metrics, and trend updates for stakeholders and senior management.
- Coordinate with development, testing, and delivery teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Support non-functional testing activities by tracking and managing defects raised during test cycles.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across programme and technical teams.
- Escalate risks, blockers, and overdue defects promptly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of defect management processes and reporting standards.lancashiregroup+1
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong experience in defect management, QA, test, or quality engineering roles.
- Proven ability to manage the full defect lifecycle in a structured delivery environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise and progress multiple defects simultaneously.
- Good understanding of test environments, defect triage, and issue escalation.
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across delivery and technical teams.
- Experience in release, test, or non-functional testing environments would be beneficial.ddat-capability-framework+2
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting large-scale programme releases.
- Familiarity with defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Understanding of quality assurance, test governance, and root cause analysis.
- Experience working in regulated or high-assurance environments.
