Role Title: DevOps Engineer - OpenShift CI/CD Automation

Duration: contract to run until 31/12/2026

Location: Sheffield, hybrid 3 days per week onsite

Rate: up to £495.88 p/d Umbrella inside IR35

Role purpose / summary

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, automating, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for application deployment on the bank's OpenShift platform. This role ensures seamless integration, efficient delivery, and compliance with security and regulatory standards across the enterprise.

Key Skills/ requirements

  • Design and implement automated CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications on OpenShift.
  • Integrate pipelines with source control systems (e.g., GitHub, GitLab) and build tools.
  • Implement container image build, scanning, and deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure smooth delivery processes.
  • Optimize pipeline performance and reliability through automation and monitoring.
  • Manage pipeline configurations and troubleshoot build/deployment issues.
  • Ensure compliance with the bank's security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on DevOps best practices and emerging technologies.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience in CI/CD pipeline design and automation using tools like Jenkins, Tekton, or GitLab CI.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes deployment workflows.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Groovy).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and image registries.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Understanding of security best practices for DevOps and container environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
