Overview of the Java Developers role

We are looking for highly skilled Java Developers to join a secure government project with a critical deadline. This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale system where your expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and AWS will be essential. You will be part of a collaborative team, building scalable solutions and solving complex problems that have a real impact.

Key responsibilities for Java Developers

• Design, develop, and deploy backend services using Java and Spring Boot

• Build and maintain scalable APIs

• Analyse schemas and write optimised SQL queries against large datasets

• Work closely with DevOps on Docker containerisation and cloud deployment in AWS

• Contribute to architectural decisions and shape technical roadmaps

• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code

• Perform code reviews and mentor junior engineers

Essential skills for Java Developers

• Strong expertise in Java (8/11/17+) and core libraries

• Proven experience with Spring Boot and microservices

• Strong background in AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM)

• Knowledge of Kafka or similar messaging systems

• Advanced SQL skills with query optimisation

• Experience building REST / JSON APIs

• Proficiency with Docker for local and cloud deployments

• Excellent communication skills

Nice-to-have skills for Java Developers

• Knowledge of JavaScript & ReactJS

• Familiarity with Amazon Aurora / RDS

• Experience with JUnit and testing frameworks
