User Experience Researcher

Qualifications

We're looking for a Senior User Researcher who can lead high-impact projects, influence strategic decisions, and deliver actionable insights that shape outstanding products and services.

  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in user research, including leading complex projects for digital services within Agile environments.
  • End-to-end research expertise – from designing and conducting generative and evaluative studies to analyzing and synthesizing findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Broad methodological knowledge, with the ability to select and apply a wide range of qualitative and quantitative techniques (e.g., usability testing, depth interviews, surveys, co-design sessions, diary studies) tailored to project needs.
  • Strong consultancy skills, including building trusted client relationships, advising on research strategies, and influencing senior-level decisions.
  • Stakeholder engagement experience, with a proven ability to manage senior stakeholders, facilitate workshops, and align multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated impact, supported by a portfolio or case studies showing how research informed successful product, service, or strategic outcomes.
  • Mentorship capability, coaching and supporting junior researchers to develop their skills and confidence.
  • Ethical research awareness, particularly when working with vulnerable users or those with accessibility needs.
  • Deep understanding of inclusive design and accessibility, including experience conducting research with users with access needs and familiarity with WCAG 2.2 standards.
  • Working knowledge of UK public sector service design, including GDS service standards, GOV.UK design system patterns, and assessment processes.
  • Agile delivery experience, actively contributing to team ceremonies and supporting iterative, user-centered development.
