Senior VMWare Engineer

Hybrid, London based with 2 days a week on site

Role Duration: 3 months (extension likely)

£520 per day inside IR35 - Umbrella only

Active SC security cleared or eligible candidates will be considered

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMware Engineer to design, deploy, and manage multiple virtual machines (VMs) in a dynamic enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware technologies and a strong understanding of virtualization, networking, and storage integration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement VMware-based infrastructure to support multiple VMs across various environments.
• Build, configure, and maintain virtual machines using vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Optimize VM performance and resource allocation.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues related to virtualization.
• Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Stay current with VMware updates, patches, and best practices.

Required Skills:

• Proven experience (5+ years) in VMware infrastructure design and administration.
• Expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related tools.
• Strong understanding of virtual networking, storage (SAN/NAS), and backup solutions.
• Experience with automation tools (e.g., PowerCLI, Ansible) is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP) are highly desirable.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with VMware NSX and Horizon.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Scripting skills for automation and orchestration.
