Test RMO - Principal Systems Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to act in an RMO role to support our customer as the key interface between the project organisation and the Equipment design authority.. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the defence industry and expertise in systems engineering, verification, project management, and Documentation. The RMO provides the senior leadership to ensure that the system equipment is designed, accepted and delivered to meet system performance and project/ programme commitments.



Responsibilities

  • As a Test RMO, you will work within the testing organisation, playing a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems solutions that meet our clients' needs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of systems, while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
    • Manage the equipment work package (including project plan and budget)
    • MBDA Stakeholder management for the equipment
    • Take accountability for the requirements for the equipment(s) on behalf of the project (with appropriate input from SMEs and Systems team)
    • Take accountability for the equipment hardware (development, deliveries, concessions, faults. etc.)
    • Produce Statement(s) of Work for the associated design authority
    • Create and update plans showing activities for the equipment(s)
    • Technically manage internal & external design authorities/suppliers for delivery of the equipment(s) work packages to time, cost, quality and performance requirements with regular engagement including supplier visits as required
    • Project manage the equipment(s) on behalf of the project
    • Own the equipment testing needs/compliance (including reviewing qualification verification evidence)
    • Plan design reviews and process gate reviews for equipment
    • Manage risks/opportunities and their mitigation
    • You are expected to be able to work in all areas of top the V model
    • Have an understanding of requirements management (creation, update, validation, verification), including suppliers' integration and DOORS experience,
    • Review and validate Documentation Including: detailed technical documentation, supporting the development of engineering requirements and associated documentation.
    • Support Completion of trade studies
    • Manage planning and work package management.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Applicable and suitable experience can be substituted for qualifications.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in Test Organistaion
  • Electrical background with suitable qualifications..
  • Proven experience in systems engineering, preferably within the defence or aerospace industry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Experience with project management practices and tools, including schedule management, risk analysis, and resource allocation
  • Eligibility for security clearance (dependent on project requirements)

  • This role requires on-site customer support 3 days per week in the Stevenage area.
