Product Engineer (React, Node.js, AI)

I'm currently working with a well funded early stage technology company that is rethinking how ambitious companies connect with exceptional talent through a highly scalable, product led platform.

They're building modern software that combines real time experiences, intelligent matching, and AI driven workflows to create a faster and more effective hiring experience for both candidates and employers.

As they continue to scale, they're looking for a Product Engineer to play a key role in shaping both the product and technical direction of the business.

Hybrid, London

The Role

• Design, build, and scale customer facing web applications using React and Node.js
• Develop highly performant backend services, APIs, and platform infrastructure
• Work closely with founders, product, and design teams to ship new features quickly
• Build AI powered functionality using Large Language Models and modern AI tooling
• Explore opportunities to improve matching, automation, search, recommendations, and user engagement through AI
• Contribute to system architecture, technical strategy, and engineering best practices
• Take ownership of products from concept through to deployment and iteration
• Help build a world class engineering culture within a fast growing business

What They're Looking For

• Strong commercial experience building full stack applications
• Expert React and TypeScript skills
• Strong backend development experience with Node.js
• Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems
• Hands on experience with AI technologies, including LLMs, AI agents, retrieval systems, embeddings, prompt engineering, or related tooling
• Strong product mindset with the ability to balance speed and engineering quality
• Experience working within start ups, scale ups, or high growth technology environments
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously

Preferred Background

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another highly technical discipline
• Strong academic pedigree, ideally from a leading university
• Track record of building products used by large user bases
• Experience working directly with founders or senior leadership teams
• Exposure to marketplace platforms, talent products, recommendation systems, or AI driven consumer products would be advantageous
