This position will involve applying fundamental engineering and scientific techniques to real-world problems in failure analysis, risk mitigation, and product development. As a Principal Engineer, you will cultivate relationships with your existing clients, identify new business opportunities, lead teams to perform leading-edge technical analyses, and contribute to the growth of our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice. You will be responsible for Leading projects for failure analysis, root cause analysis investigations, product development and expert witness engagements in requisite areas of expertiseIdentifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, and promoting Exponent through industry and legal contactsSignificantly contributing to increasing Exponent's electrical engineering and/or computer science/engineering consulting effortsProviding strategic consulting and expert witness workProviding project management and project budget oversightDeveloping and mentoring staff in both technical and business areasGuiding and performing testing and analysis of electrical and electronics field failuresPerforming laboratory experiments and analytical or computational modelingPlanning and executing testing programsPreparing written reports, proposals, and presentationsDomestic and international travel will likely be requiredMost assignments will require the ability to gather information from, and convey technical conclusions to, individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business and industry You will have the following skills and qualifications Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Physics, or a related fieldA practical and theoretical understanding of fundamental principles in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, and applying them in identifying solutions to complex technical problemsSignificant demonstrated experience generating business and managing client relationships, and a robust existing client base, is requiredA proven track record of success in technical consulting in area(s) such as in: Power Engineering and Energy; Electronics and Semiconductors; Control Systems and AutomationPrior experience delivering expert witness testimony is requiredCurrent Chartered Engineer (CEng), if applicableExcellent written and verbal communications skillsAbility to gather information from, and convey technical conclusions to, individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business and industryApplicants are encouraged to submit a CV (Curriculum Vitae) with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) [not restricted to 1 page].
