Overall purpose of the job:
We are looking for a senior Test Manager to take ownership of testing across complex infrastructure and platform-led programmes within enterprise, government and defence environments.
This is not a traditional application testing role. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in infrastructure, network and platform testing, and will be comfortable operating as a senior authority across both delivery teams and customer stakeholders.
The role requires a self-directed individual who can define, drive and assure testing outcomes with minimal oversight, working independently across multiple programmes and engaging directly with senior customer stakeholders.
Key responsibilities for this job:
- Define and own end-to-end test strategy across infrastructure, network and platform services, including cloud, connectivity and security components
- Act as the test authority across programmes, providing governance, assurance and challenge to delivery teams and suppliers
- Lead testing across:
- Infrastructure deployments
- Network and connectivity services
- Cloud migrations and hybrid environments
- Engage directly with senior customer stakeholders, providing clear assurance of service readiness and risk
- Challenge design and delivery where required to ensure testability, resilience and operational readiness
- Operate independently across multiple workstreams, managing priorities and escalations with minimal supervision
- Drive defect and risk management, ensuring issues are understood in terms of service and user impact, not just technical failure
- Support pre-sales and solution design by defining test approaches for complex service propositions
Knowledge and experience required:
- Strong experience in infrastructure and platform testing (Physical & Virtual)
- Proven experience testing environments including:
- Networks (LAN/WAN/WiFi)
- Cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
- Hybrid infrastructure
- Experience operating as a senior test lead or authority within complex, multi-vendor environments
- Ability to engage confidently with senior customer stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, setting direction and managing by exception
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments (e.g. government, defence, finance)
Desirable knowledge and experience:
- Experience with service assurance / operational readiness testing
- Understanding of end-user experience validation (e.g. Teams, VDI, network performance)
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture and service design principles
