Data Analyst – Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences Sector

Express Recruitment are proud to be working exclusively with a rapidly growing data management consultancy who provide innovative data solutions to global leaders across the Healthcare & Life Science sector. As a result of continued and forecasted growth, our client is seeking an analytically minded and meticulous Data Engineer to join their growing data intelligence & insights team.

In return, you will receive a generous starting salary of up to £50,000!

Other benefits include quarterly bonus (based on personal and company performance), 25 days holiday plus statutory days, healthcare scheme, 5% employer pension and genuine scope for career progression and further salary enhancements.

You will be contracted to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Although predominantly an office-based work to enhance collaboration amongst the team, one day a week working from home will be permitted following completion of probationary/training period.

Skills & Experience

• Degree or time served experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar
• Demonstrable experience in programming full scale data and analytic pipelines, storage solutions and process automation functions
• Highly proficient coding skills in SQL, Python & PySpark
• Proven knowledge in at least one of the following big data technologies – HIVE, Hadoop, MongoDB, Spark
• Experience within the Life Science, Medical Research or Pharmaceutical sector highly advantageous
• Analytically minded with the ability to solve problems creatively and efficiently
• Vast experience in data modelling and creating optimised data catalogues
• Proven experience working with data stack technologies such as Azure/AWS
• Demonstrable understanding of cloud lakehouse and warehousing techniques
• In depth knowledge of data governance and quality assurance standards
• Well versed with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Github & DevOps
• Experience within the healthcare, medical drugs or pharmaceutical sectors highly desirable

Roles & Responsabilities

• Collaborate with wider data team to devise analytics strategy and plan adequate resources
• Lead the development and architectural design of an innovative data environment with enhanced capability of withstanding additional integrated data
• Review and recommend alternative data architecture solutions in terms of overall performance, scalability and cost as well as optimisation of integrations and efficient data processes
• Ensure BAU changes are managed effectively for production pipelines
• Code, create and test new data-marts and maintain existing data-marts by helping resolve any maintenance or update requirements
• Perform data integration and development of precise code to create and build a syndicated data tool, ready for rollout and delivery to customers
• Collaborate with wider data team to fix bugs and resolve ongoing technical issues through root cause analysis
• Work closely with the Data Steward to protect integrity of data and ensure new data releases comply with governance and GDPR standards
• Ensure strict data governance and QA standards are always adhered to
