Business Analyst
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a highly capable Technical Business Analyst to work for our client to support the design, specification, and delivery of API and integration capabilities across the organisation. This is initially a 12-month contract with strong prospects for extension and will be hybrid role based in London or York.
The Business Analyst will play a key role in defining end-to-end API flows, standardising requirements capture across business units, ensuring alignment with the global integration model, and supporting delivery teams as they build out the unified API platform and associated services.
Responsibilities
- Gather and document API and integration requirements.
- Produce clear artefacts: user stories, API specs, flows, and data mappings.
- Analyse system impacts across domains and platforms.
- Support architects/engineers to shape compliant, standards-aligned solutions.
- Clarify scope, dependencies, and functional/non-functional needs with stakeholders.
- Ensure requirements meet security, governance, and regulatory standards.
- Run workshops to drive alignment and decisions.
- Support backlog shaping, estimation, and sprint planning.
- Maintain documentation and lifecycle traceability.
- Coordinate impacts, dependencies, and cross-squad interactions
About You
- 7+ years proven strong experience as a Technical Business Analyst on API, integration, or service-based delivery programmes.
- Proven ability to work with engineering, architecture, and product teams to define and refine API-level requirements.
- Hands-on experience with API and integration programmes, API patterns and specifications, API design, and sequence/interaction flows.
- Experience analysing system integrations across multiple applications or business units.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Azure API Management, integration platforms, or similar middleware is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of security, data governance, and operational resilience considerations for integrations.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills across business and technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced and ambiguous delivery environments.
