Domain Architect (Salesforce)
About The Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Domain Architect (Salesforce) to work for our client within the Healthcare sector. This is initially a 6-12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London
Our client is seeking a Commercial Domain Architect who would be accountable for:
- Domain architecture strategy for Commercial and E-commerce capabilities
- Translation of commercial strategy into target architectures and roadmaps
- Strategic ownership of Salesforce-centred commercial architecture
- Alignment with ERP and Corporate Functions Domain Architects
- Cross-domain coherence across end-to-end value streams
- Reduction of complexity through convergence onto strategic global platforms
- Governance of architectural standards, principles and guardrails
- Executive-level advisory to Commercial leadership
- Leading and assuring Solution Architecture within the Commercial Domain
Responsibilities:
1. Commercial & E-commerce Domain Architecture
- Define domain strategies and target architectures across:
- Sales (Field Sales, Key Account Management, Sales Effectiveness)
- Marketing (Campaign Management, Customer Journeys, Personalisation)
- Trade Promotion & Demand Management
- E-commerce & Digital Commerce
- Customer Engagement & Commercial Analytics
- Architect solutions that enable:
- Revenue growth and execution excellence
- Omnichannel customer engagement
- Integrated physical and digital commerce journeys
- Advanced commercial analytics and forecasting
- Ensure architectures support global consistency with market-specific execution models.
2. Salesforce-Centric Platform Leadership
- Act as the enterprise architectural authority for Salesforce-led Commercial capability, working closely with the Salesforce Platform Architect.
- Ensure Salesforce is positioned and evolved as the core system of engagement for customer, sales and trade processes.
- Shape Salesforce roadmaps to balance:
- Global standardisation vs. local flexibility
- Speed-to-value vs. long-term sustainability
- Configuration vs. customisation
3. ERP & Commercial Integration (In Partnership with ERP Domain Architect)
- Work closely with the ERP Domain Architect to align Commercial and Finance processes across:
- Order-to-Cash
- Pricing, rebates and promotions
- Revenue recognition, accruals and trade spend
- Ensure Commercial architectures integrate seamlessly with SAP and enterprise financial processes.
- Jointly shape end-to-end commercial-to-financial process architectures.
4. China E-commerce & Market-Aware Architecture
- Bring awareness of the China e-commerce and digital ecosystem into enterprise commercial architecture decisions.
- Understand and account for platforms such as Tmall, JD.com, Douyin and ecosystem integrators, and their architectural implications.
- Ensure global commercial architectures (including Salesforce-centric capabilities) can integrate appropriately with China-specific platforms while maintaining:
- Enterprise data governance
- Security and compliance
- Consistent customer and commercial insight
- Balance global standardisation with locally necessary exceptions, avoiding uncontrolled fragmentation.
5. Strategic Platform Convergence & Simplification
- Drive architectural decisions that reduce fragmentation and tool sprawl across the commercial and e-commerce landscape.
- Actively steer markets towards:
- A small number of strategic CRM, commerce and analytics platforms
- Reusable integration and data patterns
- Challenge local or tactical solutions that undermine enterprise scale, data consistency or cost efficiency.
6. Cross-Domain Integration & End-to-End Commercial Flows
- Partner with other Domain Architects (Corporate Functions, QSC/R&D, Technology) to ensure:
- Seamless demand-to-cash and insight-to-action value streams
- Coherent customer, product and pricing data across domains
- Govern integration patterns across:
- Commercial Finance
- Commercial Supply Chain
- Commercial Data & Analytics
7. Data, Analytics & AI-Enabled Commercial Architecture
- Architect data flows to support:
- Advanced sales and demand analytics
- AI-driven forecasting and promotion optimisation
- Customer segmentation and personalisation
- Ensure alignment with enterprise data platforms and governance frameworks.
8. Architecture Governance & Standards
- Enforce enterprise architecture principles including:
- Single source of truth
- API-first and event-driven integration
- Standard-first, customise-last
- Define and apply minimum viable architectures, reference patterns and guardrails.
- Support FinOps and TechOps practices to ensure commercial platforms deliver measurable value.
9. Portfolio, Delivery & Transformation Enablement
- Maintain architectural alignment across programmes, products and markets.
- Support portfolio modernisation through gap analysis and transition roadmaps.
- Partner with product and delivery teams to ensure architecture accelerates growth and innovation.
About You
Essential
- 8+ years’ experience in Enterprise Architecture, digital strategy or consulting roles
- Deep experience across commercial technologies, including Salesforce
- Proven experience architecting:
- Order-to-Cash and trade promotion processes
- CRM-centric sales and marketing ecosystems
- E-commerce and digital commerce integrations
- Strong understanding of global and market-specific commercial models
- Experience in leading and assuring solution architecture
Preferred
- Experience working with China e-commerce platforms and ecosystems
- Experience partnering with Salesforce and ERP Domain Architects
- Track record in global platform convergence and simplification initiatives
- Familiarity with AI/ML use cases in sales, marketing and demand planning
