PMO Manager
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a PMO Manager to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 5-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Sheffield.
Our client is seeking an exceptional PMO Manager/Engagement Lead to support a high-profile engagement within a Global Banking organisation. This is a portfolio-level role embedded within a critical function of the bank, requiring direct engagement with C-suite and MD-level stakeholders.
You’ll be joining an existing delivery team, taking ownership of governance, data analysis, reporting, and delivery assurance across a multi-project portfolio. The role demands a strong mix of strategic insight, data-driven decision-making, and executive-level communication.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary interface between the consultancy and senior stakeholders (MD and C-suite level) within the bank
- Lead portfolio-level governance, ensuring delivery assurance and transparency
- Conduct detailed data analysis, leveraging Excel (including VB/Macros) to surface insights from project and financial data
- Develop and present high-quality reports and dashboards tailored to executive stakeholders
- Identify, flag, and manage risks, issues, and blockers, escalating where appropriate
- Ask the challenging questions and drive clarity around ambiguous or complex portfolio-level asks
- Support ongoing portfolio planning, resource utilisation analysis, and performance tracking
- Create and maintain clear, structured documentation of methodologies, processes, and status reports
- Present complex information in a digestible, executive-ready format using PowerPoint and other tools
- Work at pace in a fluid and fast-changing environment while maintaining exceptionally high standards of quality
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in PMO leadership, delivery governance, or engagement management within large-scale banking or financial services portfolios
- Proven experience operating at the C-suite / Managing Director stakeholder level
- Demonstrable experience in portfolio management or running small-scale portfolios
- Advanced Excel skills including VB/macros for data processing and automation
- Strong PowerPoint and documentation skills for stakeholder-facing material
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — comfortable challenging senior stakeholders constructively
- Ability to synthesise and present complex data, with confidence to handle scrutiny and tough questions
- Highly adaptable, thrives in dynamic, evolving environments
- Outstanding attention to detail and a clear commitment to producing high-quality outputs
- Experience working within or alongside global banks or major financial institutions
- Familiarity with reporting/dashboard tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
- Previous consultancy experience or experience working in client-facing delivery roles
