Senior Data Analyst
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Data Analyst to work for our client within the IT services sector. This is initially a 3-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully remote role with occasional travel to London, Edinburgh or Yeovil.
Our client is looking for a Senior Data Analyst who will act as a subject matter expert (SME) in technical data delivery. You will lead solution discovery, data modelling, the development of pipelines and visual reporting solutions. You’ll also collaborate closely with data architects, engineers, business analysts, and client stakeholders to shape how data is integrated, transformed, and consumed across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage a repeatable and scalable Data Operations model, integrating data engineering, discovery, modelling, and reporting functions across projects
- Analyse structured and semi-structured data such as JSON, XML, SQL exports and SAP CDS views to inform data integration strategies, mapping, and solution wireframes
- Work closely with internal business units and external stakeholders to gather requirements, present solution designs, and ensure technical delivery aligns with business needs
- Translate business requirements into logical and physical data models that support scalable, high-performance analytics and reporting solutions
- Build and automate ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Azure Data Factory, as well as scripting with Python and PowerShell
- Create dashboards and data visualisations using Power BI, focusing on usability, interactivity, and business relevance
- Collaborate with Data Architects, Business Analysts, and Project Managers to deliver end-to-end data solutions aligning with vision of the central data environment
- Design and collect complex data sets, identifying patterns and creating advanced analytical models
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Technical Lead, Data Engineering, or Analytics Engineering role
- Active Security Clearance is required
- Strong skills in data discovery and analysis, including schema reverse engineering and interpretation of exported datasets
- Experience with wireframing and designing data visualisation solutions (preferably in Power BI)
- Expertise in data mapping and data modelling
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured data formats, including JSON, XM, SQL, SAP CDS Views
- Must be proficient in Python, PowerShell, Azure Data Factory, Power BI and SQL
- Experience developing within a centralised data environment and contributing to the evolution of operating models
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a client-facing role
