Solutions Architect (New Relic/Snowflake)
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an Architect to work for our client within the Retail sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a Hybrid role based in London.
Our client, a major UK retailer, is undergoing a significant integration transformation — building out a centralised platform and observability capability as part of a wider initiative to modernise how integration works across the business. The successful candidate will sit within the IAA team and play a key role in supporting the design and build-out of the platform, working closely with the observability team to shape the technical direction and underpin the delivery backlog. This is a hands-on architecture role that combines design ownership with close collaboration across engineering and delivery teams.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and overall build-out of the integration and observability platform
- Work closely with the observability team to shape and support their technical designs
- Own and support the design of the delivery backlog, ensuring it is technically sound and aligned to the platform vision
- Translate platform and observability requirements into clear, buildable technical designs for the engineering squads
- Collaborate with delivery managers, engineers and third-party partners to ensure designs are understood and delivered to standard
- Provide technical guidance and design assurance across the platform build, identifying risks and dependencies early
- Proven experience as a Solution or Platform Architect on large-scale, complex technology programmes
- Snowflake knowledge strongly preferred
- New Relic (or equivalent observability tooling) experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of integration architecture, platform design and observability principles
- Able to translate complex requirements into clear technical designs and shape a delivery backlog
- Comfortable working in an agile, squad-based delivery environment alongside engineering and delivery teams
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a solution, platform or integration architecture role
