Junior Cad Technician
We are seeking a Junior CAD Technician to join our growing team and support the delivery of high-quality BIM models and digital information across a range of major infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally.
Working alongside experienced BIM Technicians, Engineers, Designers and BIM Managers, you will develop your technical skills while supporting the production of coordinated models, drawings and project information.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the production and development of 3D BIM models and drawing outputs using relevant BIM authoring tools.
- Support experienced Technicians and Engineers in producing project drawings, schedules and model-based information.
- Assist with the coordination of multidisciplinary models and clash detection.
- Work in accordance with CAD standards, project BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and information requirements.
- Support model audits, QA checks and data validation.
- Maintain organised model structures, naming conventions and file management.
- Work collaboratively with Engineers, Designers, BIM Technicians and other project team members.
- Support information exchanges at key stages of project delivery.
- Develop an understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and the technical content being produced.
- Take an active role in training and development to continually improve technical and wider project skills.
Required Skills & Experience
- An HNC/HND, degree or relevant qualification in an Engineering,
- Construction, CAD/BIM or related discipline, or currently working towards one.
- Some knowledge or experience of CAD/BIM software would be beneficial, particularly Bentley MicroStation, OpenBuildings Designer, Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads.
- An interest in engineering, infrastructure and digital design.
- Basic ability to read and interpret technical drawings would be beneficial.
- Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to ask questions and develop an understanding of the engineering behind the work being produced.
- Previous experience within the construction or infrastructure industry is beneficial but not essential, as training and development will be provided.
