System Engineer
This role exists to deliver technical expertise in digital ticketing and smart payment systems, ensuring customers benefit from smarter, simpler, and more connected solutions. The purpose is to provide specialist input, system development, and configuration management that supports seamless, future‑proof digital infrastructure.
🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing
You can expect to:
- Provide specialist technical input into infrastructure and system tasks.
- Support new initiatives and enhancements requested by stakeholders.
- Help shape engineering processes and documentation.
- Work with business analysts and project managers to refine requirements.
- Represent the technical team at boards and forums.
- Offer technical support for escalated incidents.
- Lead smaller technical initiatives independently.
- Maintain system configuration and change documentation.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and ITIL processes.
- Contribute to systems development workstreams.
📚 Skills & Experience Needed
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics.
- 3+ years of domain experience (applications, data, infrastructure).
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication (technical and non‑technical audiences).
- Ability to manage complex, time‑critical tasks.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies (open source and licensed).
- Independent working style with attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Pay As You Go and Account‑Based Ticketing
- Understanding of contactless payment tech
- Experience with mobile technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience of smartcard ticketing and broader smart payment technologies.
