AWS Infrastructure Engineer

Seeking an experienced AWS Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our esteemed public sector project on a permanent basis.

Note: Candidate must have Active SC & NPPV3 clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support and maintenance for on-prem infrastructure, including network Switches, Firewalls, Windows desktops, and Linux operating systems.
  • Adopt an automation-first approach using Scripting languages such as Shell, PowerShell, and Ansible playbook.
  • Support infrastructure patching and security vulnerability remediation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems effectively.
  • Develop and maintain secured environment practices.
  • Manage L2/L3 customer support requests with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Shadow the Solutions Team to assist in writing operational procedures supporting the project.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in a professional, agile environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux system administration, including building, hardening, and managing Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in automating processes using Shell, Ansible, Python, and PowerShell Scripting.
  • Expertise in Juniper Firewall configuration and patching.
  • Proficiency in switch configuration and patching.
  • Experience with MS Active Directory configuration and management.
  • Hardware asset management, including printer configuration.
  • Nexus security scanning.
  • Monitoring using Grafana, Prometheus, Alert Manager and Node exporter.
  • Back-up and restore monitoring/validation.
  • Problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and fixing through log aggregation and analysis.
  • Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow for incident and change management.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2+ years of experience with a broad range of AWS technologies (eg, EC2, RDS, ELB, EBS,EFS, S3, VPC, Glacier, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS) to develop and maintain an AWS-based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice cloud security.
  • Expertise in provisioning infrastructure using Terraform and VMs with tools such as Vagrant.
  • Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime AWS environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools.
  • Knowledge of Jenkins pipeline using Groovy script.
  • Knowledge of Windows System Update Service and DFS Replication.
  • Experience with Windows Group Policy Objects and access/permissions control via GPO.
  • Experience in automating and codifying the installation of software packages.
  • Extensive experience in supporting business critical infrastructure.
  • Self-starter, comfortable working in both process-driven and ambiguous environments.
  • Experience and passion for working within Central Government and other sectors.
  • Proven capability of working successfully with customer stakeholders and end-users, quickly building successful relationships, and establishing credibility.
  • Passion for digital and technology, with the drive and determination to continually learn new things and develop yourself and others.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently in a highly collaborative, team-based environment.
