Boomi Solution Architect/Integration Architect

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Boomi Solution Architect/Integration Architect to provide client-side technical leadership across a strategic integration platform within a highly regulated government environment.

The role will focus on Boomi/iPaaS, API Management, Event Streaming, integration architecture, governance, assurance and data-sharing solutions. You will work closely with HMRC architecture, engineering, delivery and supplier teams to establish reusable integration capabilities and ensure projects adopt consistent, secure and scalable integration patterns.

Clearance & Working Arrangements
SC eligibility is mandatory. The role is primarily remote, with occasional travel required to London/Telford.

Key Responsibilities
Integration Architecture & Project Onboarding

• Lead architecture engagement and onboarding of priority projects onto the strategic integration platform.
• Produce project-specific integration designs aligned to approved iPaaS, API and event-streaming patterns.
• Conduct architecture assurance reviews and provide design recommendations.
• Support projects through technical discovery, design and implementation.

Reusable Integration Patterns

• Design and document reusable patterns, templates and reference architectures for:
  • API integrations
  • Event-driven integrations
  • MFT integrations
  • Hybrid connectivity
  • Security and authentication
• Develop implementation accelerators and onboarding guidance for delivery teams.

API Management

• Design and implement API life cycle, product management and governance processes.
• Define standards for API design, security, versioning, observability and publication.
• Support the development of a strategic API catalogue for iPaaS consumers.

Event Streaming

• Define event-driven architecture standards, patterns and implementation guidance.
• Establish approaches for topic management, event taxonomy and governance.
• Support the onboarding of initial event-streaming use cases.

Technical Leadership

• Provide hands-on architecture guidance, coaching and technical direction to HMRC and supplier engineering teams.
• Review solution implementations and challenge designs against enterprise architecture standards.
• Support Agile teams through sprint planning, design reviews and technical decision-making.

Operational Readiness

• Define architecture requirements covering:
  • Monitoring and observability
  • Logging and alerting
  • Resilience
  • Disaster recovery
  • DevSecOps
• Support production-readiness and live-service assurance reviews.

Governance & Assurance

• Establish architecture review processes for iPaaS-based integrations.
• Develop technical standards, guardrails and compliance criteria.
• Support Technical Design Authority, Design Authority and architecture assurance reviews.

Platform Roadmap

• Identify capability gaps and improvement opportunities across iPaaS, API Management and Event Streaming.
• Provide technical recommendations for future platform roadmap increments.
• Support POCs and technical evaluations of emerging integration technologies.

Data Sharing Solution Design

• Analyse data-sharing requirements, dependencies, constraints and design considerations.
• Develop solution options aligned to iPaaS, API, Streaming and wider enterprise architecture patterns.
• Produce assured solution designs covering integration patterns, data flows, security and governance.
• Provide architecture recommendations to support transition from discovery into delivery.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong experience as a Solution Architect, Integration Architect or Boomi Architect.
• Hands-on experience with Boomi/Dell Boomi/iPaaS platforms.
• Strong understanding of API Management and API architecture.
• Experience designing event-driven and event-streaming architectures.
• Strong knowledge of integration patterns, including API, MFT, messaging, event-driven and hybrid integration.
• Experience with REST APIs, authentication, security and API life cycle management.
• Experience establishing architecture standards, reusable patterns, governance and technical guardrails.
• Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, logging, resilience and disaster recovery.
• Experience working with enterprise architecture, Design Authority, TDA or architecture assurance processes.
• Strong client-facing communication and technical leadership skills.
• Experience working with Agile delivery teams and third-party suppliers.
• Experience in government, financial services or other highly regulated environments is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of data-sharing architecture, data flows and integration security.
