We’re looking for a high-calibre Junior Technical Consultant to join a boutique, globally recognised consultancy specialising in Energy & Commodity Trading and Risk Management

This is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious Junior Technical Consultant who wants to move into a trading risk business technology environment, combining technical expertise with client-facing consulting. You’ll be trained and mentored by some of the most experienced professionals in the Energy & Commodities space.

What We’re Looking For

  • BSc in Computer Science (1st or close 2:1) from a reputable university
  • 2–5 years’ experience in software development (Java, SQL, C#)
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, consulting, or client-facing roles is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a Business Analyst mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with clients
  • Experience across the full SDLC, ideally within Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
  • Highly motivated, self-disciplined, and eager to learn a new industry

You should also be able to demonstrate experience or understanding of:

  • Solution design
  • Testing (unit, system, integration)
  • Documentation and structured delivery
  • Risk and issue management

Nice to have: Kafka, Equias eBO etc

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll start with an intensive 4–6 month training programme, gaining deep expertise in E/CTRM platforms, data flows, and trading processes.

After training, you’ll:

  • Work alongside senior consultants on major transformation programmes
  • Support the implementation and customisation of leading trading and risk systems
  • Engage directly with stakeholders across top-tier energy organisations
  • Build both technical and functional expertise in a highly specialised domain
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and client teams

You’ll quickly become embedded within client teams, positioning yourself as a go-to SME on projects.
