IT Support & Software Engineer

Established for almost 25 years, our client is a leader in lighting controls and smart building technology. They work with specifiers, installers and end-users and offer a full service - from pre-commissioning and CAD design through to project software and on-site commissioning. Their in-house experts then deliver every stage, ensuring quality, innovation and seamless integration.
Due to a period of growth, the business are now looking for a new IT & Software professional to join their ranks.You will combine IT support skills with software development expertise. This is a varied, hands-on role working across internal systems, customer-facing apps and business-critical integrations.
You’ll be involved in:

General IT Support

Setting up Windows PCs/laptops and installing software, Providing basic software training to staff

Liaising with external IT support, Assisting with server upgrades and maintenance

Software Development & Systems
-
Enhancing and maintaining their EMS platform (functionality, reports, integrations), Managing communication between EMS and Sage
-
Reviewing/mitigating security vulnerabilities and environment changes, Using Azure DevOps to track bugs, changes and requests

Business Tools Integration

Supporting and managing Zoho Expense (data alignment, reporting, user/policy management), Maintaining our Data Poller to ensure smooth integration with Zoho, Sage, Microsoft, Google, and HMRC APIs

Key Technologies You’ll Use

C#, .NET 7/8, .NET Framework, WinForms, Xamarin, Entity Framework / EF Core

T-SQL, IIS, SQL Server Reporting Services, Azure DevOps / Git, Cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud)
Requirements
The company are looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, thrives in a fast-paced environment and can juggle multiple projects. Key attributes include:

Strong technical troubleshooting and integration skills, Accuracy in coding, reporting and data management

Initiative to drive development and improvements forward, Flexibility with APIs, OS updates and evolving business needs

Excellent communication and teamwork skills, Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Your Background:
-
Solid IT support experience within Windows environments, Proven experience in software development and system integrations

Familiarity with SDLC from design through to deployment and maintenance, Experience managing app lifecycle (including end-of-life migrations)

Knowledge of security best practices in software development, A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (preferred)

Certifications in .NET, Azure, or security (a bonus), Experience with Agile or similar methodologies (a bonus)
