An opportunity has arisen within Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for a Performance BI Analyst Apprentice to join the Business Intelligence team.

In this role, you’ll support the team in turning data into useful information that helps services understand their performance and make informed decisions. You’ll gain practical experience across the full data process, from gathering and checking data through to helping produce reports and dashboards. 

Day to day, you’ll work with tools such as Power BI, help maintain data systems, and support colleagues across the organisation with their data and reporting needs. You’ll also work closely with different teams, giving you a good understanding of how data is used to improve services.

This is a hands-on role with support and training, giving you the chance to build your skills while making a real contribution to the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the team in creating reports and dashboards, including interactive ones in Power BI, so information is easy to understand and use.
  • Help respond to requests for data and performance information from different teams.
  • Check data for accuracy and work with colleagues to fix any issues you come across.
  • Get involved in maintaining and developing data systems, including supporting data warehousing activities.
  • Turn data into clear outputs like charts, reports, and dashboards that help people make decisions.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to understand what they need and how data can support them.
  • Learn and start to use different analytical techniques (like forecasting or trend analysis) to support the team’s work.

Experience/Qualification

  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team
  • Comfortable working with numbers and using data to identify patterns or trends
  • Able to think logically and analyse information to solve problems
  • Able to plan and organise your work, manage priorities, and work to deadlines
  • General IT awareness and confidence using main Microsoft Office applications
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
