Role Overview:
We are seeking a Business Director (Travel Business) with strong commercial acumen and execution capabilities to lead the end-to-end development and launch of our travel business.
This role will take ownership of supplier partnerships and contract negotiations, define and execute business growth strategies, and work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Finance, Marketing, Technology, and Operations to ensure successful launch and sustainable growth.
The position is performance-driven, with key success metrics including successful business launch, user growth, and revenue (GMV/TTV). The ideal candidate will have extensive industry experience, strong business development skills, and the ability to drive complex initiatives across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Strategy & Execution:
- Define and drive the overall strategy for the travel business to ensure successful launch and sustainable growth.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable plans and deliver key milestones.
- Identify new business opportunities and partnership models to expand revenue streams.
- Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to inform business decisions.
Supplier Development & Contract Negotiation:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard travel suppliers (e.g., hotel wholesalers, OTAs, airlines, and other travel providers).
- Lead commercial negotiations including pricing, commissions, SLAs, and risk allocation.
- Build and maintain long-term strategic partnerships to ensure competitive and stable supply.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Execution:
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Marketing, and Operations teams to deliver end-to-end business launch.
- Align internal resources and ensure efficient project execution.
- Drive process optimization and standardization to improve operational efficiency.
Business Growth & Performance Management:
- Own overall business performance with GMV/TTV as the core KPI.
- Define and monitor key metrics such as revenue, margins, conversion rates, and supplier performance.
- Develop and implement growth strategies to increase market share and enhance customer experience.
- Regularly report performance and insights to senior management.
Supplier & Operations Management:
- Oversee supplier performance and service quality to ensure contractual compliance.
- Drive scalability and operational efficiency of the business.
- Identify and manage commercial and compliance risks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Tourism, Finance, or related fields; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in the travel industry, preferably from OTA, bedbanks, airlines, or travel tech companies.
- Proven track record of launching new businesses and driving revenue growth.
- Strong experience in business development and contract negotiation.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills in complex organizational environments.
- Solid understanding of travel distribution systems, pricing mechanisms, and supplier ecosystems.
- International business experience is a plus.
