Group Reporting and Controls Manager

Role Overview:
The Group Accountant will play a key role in the financial management and reporting of a group comprising with combined annual turnover in excess of £100m. The role is responsible for group consolidation, statutory reporting, technical accounting, and supporting the finance leadership team in ensuring strong financial control, compliance, and insight across the group.
Key Responsibilities:
Group Consolidation, Statutory Accounts & Compliance
- Support the Group FC in the annual group consolidation process, including intercompany eliminations and reconciliations
- Further develop and oversee the intercompany sales and purchase elimination process
- Assist in the preparation of group audited statutory accounts under UK GAAP
- Assist in the coordinate the year-end audit process, acting as the main point of contact between Group, Divisional Finance and the external auditors
- Work with the divisional FC’s to review subsidiary submissions to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to group accounting policies
- Lead ad-hoc projects
Subsidiary Accounts
- Support the Group FC in preparation of the unaudited subsidiary accounts
Technical Accounting & Controls
- Monitor and implement changes in accounting standards across the group e.g. to assess and implement the changes across the Group in the latest FRS102 updates for Fy27 including around leases and revenue recognition. Ensure compliance with Companies Act requirements and other relevant accounting standards.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce group accounting policies and procedures
- Support the ongoing improvement of financial controls and governance across the Group
- Ensure underlying accounting systems reconcile back to Group reporting within Access Dimensions.
Business Support & Projects
- Partner with subsidiary finance teams to improve financial reporting quality and efficiency
- Assist with post-acquisition integrations where necessary
Group / Central Accounting
- Manage the Groups monthly intercompany balances matrix and intercompany trading eliminations.
- Review all the bank reconciliations, both central and for all Divisions.
- Responsible for all Group payroll related reconciliations, both central and for all Divisions.
- Manage the Groups VAT submissions (UK & EU), working with the Divisions
- Assisting on Holdco accounting and budgeting and forecasting
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong internal working relationships with senior management and Finance team acting as technical support for queries from Divisional Finance teams.
- Build and manage day-to-day relationships with PwC auditors, PwC tax advisors, and other external stakeholders such as BDO
- Support the Group FC in developing departmental reporting and analysis for central teams
Team
- Provide guidance and mentoring to subsidiary finance teams
Key Skills & Experience:
Essential
- Qualified accountant (preferably ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
- Strong experience in group accounting and consolidation within a multi-entity environment
- Solid technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP and/or IFRS)
- Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and managing audits
- Strong Excel skills and experience with consolidation and ERP systems
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
Desirable
- Experience in a £50m- £250m turnover group environment
- Exposure to M&A, integrations, or restructuring
- Prior experience in a fast-growing or private equity-backed business
- Knowledge of financial reporting systems (e.g. Access Dimensions or similar)
