3rd Line IT Team Leader

Our excellent client in Cardiff, an established and growing IT Services provider, is recruiting for a 3 Line IT Team Leader to join them on a permanent basis.

This is an opportunity for an experienced 3rd Line Engineer to step into a leadership role that blends hands-on technical expertise with people management, operational oversight, and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing:

As the 3rd Line Team Leader, you'll provide day-to-day leadership, coordination, and accountability across a high-performing engineering team.

Team Leadership & People Development

  • Allocate work, set priorities, and ensure effective rota coverage.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and regular 1:1 support.
  • Contribute to performance management and staff development.

Operational Oversight

  • Coordinate daily activity to ensure SLAs and KPIs are consistently achieved.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Maintain structured ownership of key service areas and responsibilities.

Cross -Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Service Desk leadership, project teams, and security teams.
  • Participate in handovers, operational reviews, and service discussions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Promote consistency, accountability, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Support documentation, process development, and knowledge sharing.

  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to coach, motivate, and guide others.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Proven experience in a technical environment, ideally within 3rd Line support.
  • Strong organisational capability and the ability to manage priorities effectively.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for improving service quality and team performance.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary will be £35,000 - £37,500 per annum, plus full company benefits including:
