Purpose of the Role

Lead the development of strategic initiatives by defining problem statements in partnership with senior stakeholders, synthesising complex analysis into clear, decision-relevant insight, and advising leadership on strategic direction. You will oversee strategic projects spanning multiple workstreams, ensure high-quality, executive-ready delivery, and actively shape stakeholder engagement to drive alignment and impact.

What You'll Deliver (Key Accountabilities)

  • Lead identification of problem statements and hypothesis-driven problem solving; synthesise complex analyses into clear insights and strategic implications.
  • Structure and oversee multiple workstreams within strategic initiatives — ensuring quality, alignment and delivery against enterprise priorities.
  • Develop compelling, executive-ready presentations and narratives, translating complex topics into clear, actionable messages.
  • Design and execute stakeholder engagement strategies — managing differing perspectives, surfacing blockers, and building alignment across senior stakeholders.

Accountabilities of the Job

  • Identify and articulate the strategic implications of analysis; ensure outputs are relevant to leadership decision-making.
  • Ensure strategy projects deliver against agreed enterprise objectives, identifying risks early and maintaining focus on impact.
  • Ensure all workstreams are aligned, integrated and delivered to a high standard, with a clear and consistent strategic narrative.
  • Anticipate stakeholder needs, manage competing priorities, and drive alignment across functions and senior stakeholders.
  • Produce and oversee high-quality, executive-level materials and communications that clearly convey complex strategic issues.
  • Lead and develop junior team members — providing direction, coaching and feedback; contribute to overall capability building.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge and interest in financial services — including customers, products and services.
  • Ability to convert data and research into a fact base for strategic content, with strong analytical skills and the ability to simplify complex tasks.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills — able to convey complex information clearly.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to understand and manage stakeholder incentives and dynamics.
  • Experience managing project or workstream teams in complex and demanding environments.
  • Ability to balance big-picture strategic thinking with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience in an in-house strategy function or strategy consulting environment.
  • Degree-level or equivalent qualification; MBA and/or top-tier consulting background highly valued.
  • Experience leading workstreams or teams.

Conduct & Line of Defence

  • Comply with the client's Code, Purpose, Values and relevant policies.
  • Respect relevant regulatory obligations and Conduct Rules.
  • This is a first-line role under the Three Lines of Defence principles — responsible for intelligent risk-taking and managing direct and consequential risks.
  • Promote a culture where risk, including financial crime and fraud, is managed effectively through prompt identification, escalation and reporting.
