  • Manage and develop a team of data engineers, driving hiring, performance and professional development.
  • Implement modern engineering standards across CI/CD, automated testing, observability and cost control.
  • Partner with the Data Delivery Lead to balance short-term fixes with long-term strategic build.
  • Translate complex engineering trade-offs into clear outcomes for senior stakeholders.

What You Bring as a Principal Data Engineer

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field.
  • 5 to 8 years in data engineering or hands-on data architecture, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Expert level proficiency in Databricks, Azure and SQL/Python, with GCP and BigQuery experience highly desirable.
  • A proven track record of refactoring legacy data estates and migrating them to modern platforms without disrupting business continuity.
  • A player-coach mindset, equally comfortable leading a team and writing production-grade code.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to manage non-technical stakeholders and present confidently to senior leadership.
