IFS MRP Consultant (Material Requirements Planning)
Contract: 12 Months
Rate: £700–£800 per day (Outside IR35)
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Primarily Remote with occasional travel to Scotland (1–2 times per month)
The Opportunity
We're supporting a leading UK food manufacturer on a large-scale IFS transformation programme and are looking for an experienced IFS MRP Consultant to join the team.
This is a key role within the Supply Chain & Manufacturing workstream, responsible for designing, optimising and implementing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes within IFS. You'll work closely with manufacturing, supply chain and operational stakeholders to ensure planning processes are efficient, scalable and aligned with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the configuration and optimisation of IFS Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Planning teams to understand business requirements and translate them into IFS solutions.
- Review and improve planning parameters including lead times, safety stock, lot sizing and replenishment strategies.
- Configure and optimise manufacturing planning, shop orders and procurement planning within IFS.
- Support end-to-end supply chain process improvements across manufacturing, purchasing and inventory management.
- Analyse MRP outputs, action messages and planning exceptions to improve material availability and reduce stock shortages.
- Support integration across Manufacturing, Procurement, Inventory and Warehouse Management modules.
- Facilitate workshops with key business stakeholders and provide functional expertise throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Support testing (SIT/UAT), defect resolution, user training and go-live activities.
- Produce functional documentation and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering IFS ERP implementations or enhancements with a strong focus on Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Strong functional knowledge of IFS Supply Chain and Manufacturing modules.
- Experience configuring and optimising:
- Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
- Inventory Management
- Procurement & Purchasing
- Shop Floor / Shop Orders
- Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Routings
- Production Planning
- Strong understanding of manufacturing planning concepts including demand planning, supply planning, lead times, safety stock, lot sizing and capacity planning.
- Experience working within manufacturing environments, ideally food or FMCG.
- Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
- Experience supporting full project lifecycle delivery from design through to go-live.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with IFS Cloud.
- Previous experience within the Food Manufacturing or FMCG sector.
- Understanding of manufacturing best practices including inventory optimisation, production scheduling and continuous improvement.
- Experience working within complex multi-site manufacturing environments. IFS MRP supports planning across multiple manufacturing sites and generates planning recommendations for production, purchasing and internal distribution, making multi-site experience highly beneficial.
