Quality Assurance Test Engineer

QA / Test Engineer (Embedded / Robotics / Safety-Critical)

📍 Oxfordshire (hybrid, 3 days onsite)

đź’° Competitive salary + benefits

There are plenty of QA roles out there. This isn’t one of those.

This is working on the kind of systems where testing isn’t just about coverage or pipelines, it’s about making sure autonomous systems behave safely in the real world.

I’m working with a small, well-backed team building safety and assurance software for AI-driven systems. Think robotics, autonomy, and environments where things can’t just “mostly work”.

They’re looking for someone who enjoys getting close to the system. Not just writing tests, but understanding how things behave end-to-end.

You’d be working across:

  • Embedded software and real-time systems
  • Automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
  • Simulation environments (SIL / HIL)
  • Robotics tooling (ROS, Gazebo etc.)
  • Safety-critical standards (DO-178C, ISO 26262)

It’s a hands-on role in a team where QA isn’t siloed. You’ll be working closely with software, systems, and AI engineers, helping shape how testing and validation is done as the product evolves.

The environment is early-stage but already delivering real-world capability. That means:

  • You’ll have real ownership
  • You can influence how things are built
  • You’re not inheriting years of legacy process

This would suit someone who:

  • Comes from embedded, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or defence
  • Enjoys automation and building test infrastructure
  • Thinks in terms of systems, not just test cases
  • Has worked in or is interested in safety-critical environments

You don’t need to tick every box. If you’ve got strong fundamentals and are curious about autonomy and safety, it’s worth a conversation.

If it sounds interesting, drop me a message or apply and I’ll give you a bit more context.
