Cloud Operations Technician
Role Overview
We are seeking a Cloud Operations Technician to support the day-to-day operation of cloud infrastructure and services. This role focuses on monitoring, incident response, and operational support, working closely with Cloud Engineers, DevOps teams, and IT operations.
This position is ideal for candidates with foundational cloud knowledge who want to build hands-on experience in a production cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Monitoring & Incident Response
- Monitor cloud environments using dashboards and alerting tools
- Respond to incidents, alerts, and service disruptions
- Perform initial troubleshooting and escalate complex issues
- Ensure system availability and performance
Cloud Infrastructure Support
- Support cloud resources including:
- Virtual machines
- Storage services
- Networking components
- Assist with provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks
- Support backup, recovery, and high-availability processes
Security & Access Management
- Support identity and access management (IAM / RBAC) tasks
- Apply basic cloud security best practices
- Assist with patching, updates, and vulnerability remediation
Operational Processes & Documentation
- Follow incident, change, and problem management procedures
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and logs
- Update asset inventories and configuration records
Collaboration & Continuous Learning
- Work closely with cloud, DevOps, and infrastructure teams
- Participate in handovers, shift rotations, or on-call support
- Continuously develop cloud and operations skills
Required Skills & Qualifications (Must Have)
- Basic understanding of:
- Cloud infrastructure concepts (compute, storage, networking)
- Cloud shared responsibility model
- Familiarity with at least one cloud platform:
- AWS or Azure or Google Cloud
- Basic knowledge of:
- Linux and/or Windows operating systems
- Monitoring and alerting tools
- Understanding of:
- Incident and change management processes
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Preferred / Advantageous Skills
- Entry-level cloud certifications:
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- Google Cloud Digital Leader
- Exposure to:
- Scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python – basic)
- ITSM / ticketing tools
- DevOps or CI/CD concepts
- Experience in MSP, NOC, or 24×7 support environments
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in:
- IT
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Or a related field
- Equivalent hands-on training or certifications will be considered
